Have you ever imagine how it's like to wake up to a zombie apocalypse?
Everyone running for their lives, terror and panic on their faces. Explosions, sirens, a cacophony permeating the usual morning silence. Staying alive becomes the top priority. What would I really need to survive this?
If you've watched enough zombie movies, you'll notice a pattern. The essentials that we've taken for granted, like water and food, rises in value. No one cares about your fame, status, money, gold or luxury goods that you've been collecting so far. In fact, everything that mainstream society have taught us to strive for in life? All that goes down the drain.
That got me thinking pretty hard on what really matters in life. Apart from the basic needs - food, water, shelter, basic clothing, medication (and weapons, since we're in a zombie apocalyse after all), everything else is just a bonus. Or rather unnecessary.
Take a look around you. The air that you're breathing. Spending time with your loved ones. Going for a walk in peace. These are things that we might have already taken for granted as we go about with our busy lives, chasing after things without really knowing why.
And the thing is, we don't have to wait for a zombie apocalyse to pause, question and strip the layer of superficiality to figure out what really matters in life. Outside of the essentials that keeps you alive, chances are that you already have everything beyond what you really need.
Cherish it.
